About JNV
JNVST stands for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test. It is a national-level examination conducted by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) for admission into class 6th in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, which are a system of alternate schools for gifted students in India. These schools are run by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The selection test is conducted annually in the month of January and April for admission in class 6th for the academic year. The test is designed to identify talented children from rural areas of the country and provide them with an opportunity for education equivalent to the best in a residential school system.
About JNV Harda
Navodaya Vidayalaya are schools with a mission and philosophy. They are founded on the belief that education is intrinsic to human development. Fostering excellence with equity are the precepts through which Navodaya Vidyalaya seek to fulfill a major objective of Independent India: Education on an equal footing to those denied access to quality education : girls, children of SC and ST communities and rural children.
In accordance with the national policy of Education (1986) Government of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNVs). Presently the JNVs are spread in 27 states & 7 Union Territories .These are co-educational residential schools fully financed administered by Government of India through an autonomous organization , Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti . Admissions in JNVs are made through the Jawahar Navodaya Selection Test (JNVST) at Class VI. The Medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother tongue or regional language up to Class VIII and English thereafter for Maths and Science and Hindi for Social Science . Students of the JNVs appear for X and XII class examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education. While education in the schools is free including boarding ,lodging, uniforms & textbooks, a nominal fee of Rs.600/- per montd for boys under Gen. category only (Except BPL) per month for boys under Gen. category only (Except BPL) & 1500/- per month for wards of Govt. Employee for boys under Gen. category only (Except BPL) will have to be paid by the children from IX& XII class. However , Children belonging to SC/ST , Girls and Physically Handicapped and from the families whose income is below poverty line are exempted from payment of fees.
objectives of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti
- To Establish ,Endow, maintain, control, and manage schools(hereinafter called the ‘Navodaya Vidyalaya’) and to do all acts and things necessary for or conducive to the promotion of such schools which will have the following objectives:
- To provide good quality modern education-including a strong component of culture inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education- to the talented children predominantly from the rural areas without regard to their family’s socio-economic condition.
- To provide facilities, at a suitable stage, for instruction through a common medium, viz., Hindi and English, all over the country.
- Offer a common core-curriculum to ensure comparability in standards and to facilitate and understand the common and composite heritage of our people.
- To progressive bring students from one part of the country to another in each school to promote national integration and enrich the social content.
- To serve as a focal point for improvement in quality of school education through training of teachers in live situations and sharing of experiences and facilities.
- To establish, develop, maintain and manage hostels for the residence of students of Navodaya Vidyalayas.
- To aid, Establish and Conduct other institutions as May be Required for the Furtherance of the Society’s objects in any part of India
- To do all such things as May be considered necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the objects of the society.
